Inspiring others to be the best version of themselves.

Empathetic, strategic, and meticulous about the details, I have built a career enabling some of the world’s most influential leaders to excel in high stress environments.

I am the founder and CEO of Matriarch Made Development, a consulting firm that centers around helping companies and organizations develop high performing administrative teams, identify and address overall operating structure inefficiencies and further cultivate assistants’ talents.

Named in honor of the four generations of maternal women who have paved the way for me to mature into the woman I have become today, Matriarch Made was founded on the 3 principles that enabled me to build a distinguished career in personal, government, and corporate environments— Patience, Accountability, and Vigilance.

My Story

I was raised by a single mother in Miami, Florida, on the outskirts of Liberty City. My father went to prison when I was just 3 years old, and I carried a shame that wasn’t mine to carry, well into my adult life. My mom, grandma and great grandmother were the village who raised me. I learned from them how to create order in what may seem like chaos.

My childhood was filled with soaking in conversations around the kitchen table where I was always seeking answers, solutions and the wise counsel of my village. Often being the only black girl in a lot of spaces, I struggled with body image and identity issues growing up. My adolescence caused me to be resilient. I’ve always been inquisitive and able to think quickly and on multiple levels.

Education
+ Experience

I studied Event Management and Political Science with a minor in Business at the University of Florida (UF). I am a proud Florida Gator and during time at UF I gained exposure to event management as a White House intern during the Obama administration.

When I graduated, I spent years supporting the Obama’s advanced logistical teams until leaving my administrative role at The Walt Disney Company and ultimately becoming the “body-woman” of former First Lady Michelle Obama. In this capacity, I helped Mrs. Obama connect with communities around the world.

I ensured every detail of Mrs. Obama’s personal and public-facing events were executed flawlessly, directing teams who coordinated Mrs. Obama’s domestic and international engagements.

And beyond…

At the conclusion of the Obama administration, I was retained by the personal office of Barack and Michelle Obama as their Director of Travel and Event Operations, where I continued to help manage the personal obligations of their family while continuing to oversee the coordination of Mrs. Obama’s engagements.

I was most recently highlighted in Michelle Obama’s newly released book, “The Light We Carry.” I have also written for O Magazine and Vogue and have been featured in Essence, the Netflix Documentary “Becoming,” and the Michelle Obama Spotify Podcast.

My Mission

I strive every day to be an inspiration for young girls, especially those who have experienced similar life challenges.

I live in Washington, DC with my wife Katina Hoyles.
